about

Tracks 1-6 were our first demo, the Squatter's Rights EP. We road our bikes down to the 7th St. Space late one Tuesday night and Mike secretly recorded us. It had to be a secret... people didn't like us there. We actually had to wait down the street for a band to finish practicing before we could sneak in. Mike was good to us and we recorded those tracks in about as much as it takes you to listen to them, in return we gave him a hamburger.

The demo was finished just in time for us to distribute at our first show on April 15, 2010 at the House Cafe. We had written goofy shit on each CD; some of them said "burn a copy for a friend, spread it like AIDs." In retrospect that probably wasn't the best idea given that the show was a benefit for an organization that helps out in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Someone actually gave a CD back to us and said "that's how you lose a lot of fans." I was honored to have made a fan... even if they did end up hating us. A lot of people probably did, we were really drunk and I remember dropping the f bomb quite a bit. Again, in retrospect, probably not the best idea to do at a benefit.

Track 7 is a sample I always wanted to use

Track 8 is the 2nd or 3rd time we ever jammed out Melvins. Probably the best recording of it we will ever pull off

Track 9 is from the Squatter's Rights recording session. We haven't played it since early 2011

Track 10 is Rob being Whittier than you

Track 11 is my favorite demo of the Goons of DeKalb. Really captures the slop there

Track 12 is us drunk at our third show

Tracks 13 and 14 were recorded at Cody's old apartment (Colonial Apt. C1) one stormy summer night... or maybe winter night? It was a night regardless

Tracks 15, 16, 17 and 19 are the first Stockyards demos recorded at Kevin's old house (100 Park Ave... that blue one next to American Liquor) in January of 2010. This is how I was introduced to Kevin and Alex

Track 18 is in regards to track 19

Track 20 is good fun

You probably didn't read all of this or listen to the whole album and I know why. And if you did, then thank you. Now I'm going to find something else to get nostalgic about.
